The PSU Tigers put on a commanding performance Saturday night, defeating Prestige Prep 40-0 to move to 2-0 on the season. Both sides of the ball contributed to the shutout victory, as the Tigers showcased a balanced and explosive attack on offense paired with a smothering defense.
The Tigers’ defense made their presence felt early and often, recording five interceptions on the night. James Benton recorded his 3rd league leading interception on the season, while Arquise Reynolds electrified the crowd with a pick-six. Hamzeh Ghassemi added to the dominance with a 45-yard return following his interception, nearly taking it all the way. Quarterback Carlos Penalbert continued his strong start to the season, throwing for three touchdowns. He spread the ball around, connecting with Devin Dingman, Justin Saunders, and Makaryon Martin for scores. Power back Lamar Moore also punched in a touchdown, giving the Tigers multiple weapons in the run and pass game.
Head Coach Takashi Walker praised his team’s effort and execution, noting that the Tigers played disciplined, tough, and smart football all night. From the opening kickoff, PSU maintained control of the game, limiting mistakes and executing the game plan on both sides of the ball.
Through two games, the Tigers’ offense is averaging 31 points per game, while the defense is allowing just six points per game—ranking them first in the conference in both categories.
