PSU Tigers Secure Commitment from Leesburg High Star James Benton for 2025 Season

The PSU Tigers have bolstered their 2025 recruiting class with the addition of James Benton, a dynamic two-way standout from Leesburg High School in Florida. Known for his explosive playmaking abilities on both offense and defense, Benton is expected to bring versatility and athleticism to the Tigers’ roster.

Standing at 5’10” and weighing 150 pounds, Benton has made a name for himself as a wide receiver and defensive back. His senior year was marked by impressive performances, including a spring jamboree where he recorded four receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown on offense, and a remarkable 109-yard interception return for a touchdown on defense—a record for Leesburg High in a spring game. 

Benton’s speed and agility have been key to his success, complemented by his strength—bench pressing 185 pounds and squatting 315 pounds. His leadership qualities and work ethic have been praised by coaches and teammates alike, earning him the nickname “Jbay” in the locker room.
